First, you can try contacting the company or person that the scammer claimed to be from and explain what happened. You can also try filing a complaint with your local consumer protection office or the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can contact your bank or credit card company and explain what happened; they may be able to refund your money. Below are the 5 steps you can follow.

Step 1 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Keep all chats and conversation leading to the point you were scammed ..you will be needing it as evidence.

Step 2 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Write out the full Name and account no of the Scammer.

Step 3 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Go to the notification alert you received from the transaction or pos printout of the payment you made copy the transaction ID you will be needing it.

Step 4 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Go to any branch of the bank of scammer and ask to speak with the customer service agent incharge of fraud

Step 5 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Go to any branch of the bank of scammer and ask to speak with the customer service agent incharge of fraud.

Step 6 to take to get your money back from scammer:

Get the official email address of the headquarter of the bank of the Scammer from the customer service incharge of fraud , send a mail to them with all the evidence.

Note: below are other things you need to know

  • When sending the mail to the headquarter include this email below to the message [email protected]

  • The above address is CBN fraud desk and if included to you mail , the bank will comply asap since they don't want to make issues with CBN

  • After all these steps is put in place , the scammer will be tracked and arrested . You will be contacted and you money will be refunded and the scammer will face the law
