PSG go for Galtier and even offer to sell players in exchange

PSG are negotiating with Nice over their coach Christophe Galtier. The new PSG board want him to replace Mauricio Pochettino and they've even offered Nice players in exchange, 'L'Equipe'.

The signing of Galtier for PSG is a priority. Zinedine Zidane has already told the Parisian club that he does not want to become their coach, for now, according to 'RMC Sport'. That is why PSG are rushing to get their back-up option in the Nice coach. 

PSG had reached an agreement in principle this week for the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino and his technical staff (formed by Argentinians and Spaniards), who still have a year left on his contract. The redundancy fee is 15 million euros, according to the French press.

The formal annoucement of Pochettino's departure will be made as soon as the replacement's contract is signed. That is something they want to do at the start of the week to have more time to prepare pre-season. 

The Ligue 1 season gets underway on the first weekend of August so clubs will return to training in the first week of July. 

But the thing is that Nice have asked PSG for a certain amount of money to let their 55 year-old coach leave. Gautier has two years left on his Nice contract..

Galtier is well known by PSG's new sporting director Luis Campos, whose first decision is who he wants to be the coach. PSG have now completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Vitinha for 40 million euros, according to several pieces of information. 

Now they have got their attention on another midfielder in Renato Sanches of Lille. Galtier knows him very well from his time at that club, with whom he won Ligue 1 in 2020-21 ahead of star-studded PSG. 

If both signings are confirmed, it would be a clear sign of wanting to imprvove their midfield, their weakest area of the pitch. Only Italian Marco Verratti is an indisputable starter and of international quality. In addition, the signing of the two Portuguese players shows where Campos is looking to sign players. 

But PSG have a problem as they have a squad with too many players and which is too expensive. That is why they need to sell players, something the previous sporting director, Leonardo, was unable to do. That was because of the large salaries of the players with a contract.

Therefore, the possibility of sending players to Nice so that they let Galtier go would be a very good option for PSG. It needs Nice to approve it first though.
